WHAT ARE U-VALUES?

Available in both sculptured and chamfered frames.

Although the new ultimate energy saving window surpasses all tests and has achieved one of the industries highest ratings with an A + 10 certification, the ultimate triple glazed window has achieved an
A + 16 certification with a U-value of just 1.1

U-value is simply a measure of the rate at which heat
passes through a material. The walls, roof, in fact all
elements of a house have U-values. The lower the
U-value the better the insulation performance.
A 4mm single pane window has a U-value of 5.6 (which as we all know is very cold). Then came a huge improvement with double glazing which has a U-value of 2.8. However, this was to change again with the introduction of building regulations in 2002, and with the use of glass like Pilkington K, this reduced U-values to 1.9. Then in 2010 building regulations changed and all windows must now achieve at the very least a U-value of 1.6. The Ultimate A rated window has a U-value of 1.4 and the Ultimate triple glazed window has an impressive
U-value of 1.1.
